Fancy Pants Adventure Weekend / Taymouth Marina

Our stay at Taymouth Marina was gifted in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

It’s not often we get a holiday with a minimal itinerary, but this weekend Callum and I have totally embraced down time. We spent two nights at Taymouth Marina and it was the perfect place to chill out after a hectic few weeks of travel and work. Taymouth Marina appealed to us for a few reasons. Loch Tay is fantastic for water sports and the marina has heaps of equipment available to hire, so we could try a few different things. There’s also amazing food in the area, independent restaurants, farm shops, a famous chocolate shop, so we were excited to explore that… and to be honest, we love a bit of fancy now and again, so the private hot tub and hot box sauna sounded pretty spectacular.

We arrived late afternoon on Saturday and enjoyed the hot tub with a bottle of wine to kick start the weekend. We could have stayed in there all night, and we did until the sun dipped behind the hills.

That night we had a late dinner at a local restaurant called Errichel. The menu at Errichel was incredible, all the meat served was from their own farm and all other ingredients were locally sourced. The perfect date night.

Sunday was funday. We hired a giant two man SUP, and spent the morning exploring Loch Tay and a few of its small islands. As well as paddle boards, the marina has a kayaks, sailing boats, speed boats, inflatables and loads more to choose from.

Back on dry land, we hit the hot box sauna; which has got to be one of the most scenic saunas i’ve ever been in. It was really hard to photograph the area, and I ended up getting my camera wet so I don’t have many images. Doh! But check out my Instagram highlight to see more from the sauna area indoor and outdoor.

The outdoor area of the sauna also has an outdoor bar, an adult sized slide into the loch, a fire pit and ice buckets – I participated in all of the above!

For the rest of the day we wandered round Kenmore, and visited the famous Highland Chocolatier (must visit if you’re in the area). We made a Sunday roast in the apartment, and spent the rest of the evening in the hot tub.

We had a really lovely weekend, it was the perfect place to unwind for a few days and somewhere we would love to revisit again. The staff at Taymouth Marina were also fantastic and made us feel completely welcome.

Thank you for reading,
